James "Jim" Ernest Edwards, 87, of Fennville, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Holland Hospital. Born September 23, 1930, he is the son of the late Ernest and Olive (Harris) Edwards. He married Margaret Hoover on June 8, 1951. Jim was a member of the U.S. Army and a Korean War veteran. He graduated Tri-State College with a B.S degree in electrical engineering. Jim worked as a product designer for Whirlpool, test engineer for Electrolux, and quality control engineer for Holiday Inn where he worked until age 72. An avid fisherman and master wood craftsman, Jim loved singing in the church choir and spending time with family. Surviving are his children, Ronald (Laurie) Edwards of Holland, Susan Matthews of Grand Rapids, and David Edwards of Saugatuck; grandchildren, Michelle Clark and Rick Clark; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, soon to be 3. Jim is preceded in death by his wife and his son-in-law, Charles Matthews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Chappell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Community Church of Douglas, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jeff Messner will officiate, Pastor Emeritus Dan Miller will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
