Ignacia Martinez, 68, of Fennville, MI passed away on Saturday (Sabado de Gloria) April 15, 2017 surrounded by her family following complications from a short and well fought battle with Dementia. Ignacia was born to Roman and Alejandra Martinez on August 1, 1948 in Donna, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. She moved with her parents and siblings to Michigan when she was seven years old. After her parents' passing, she lived with and was cared for by her loving sister and guardian, Maria de los Angeles (Angelita), her husband, Maximino and all of the Rodriguez family in Fennville, MI. Everyone called her by her endearing nickname, Nacha. She was a sweet and sassy person that never allowed her Down Syndrome to dictate her life. She loved to eat and enjoyed dancing while also dressing herself with sparkling jewelry. With her distinctive laugher, she made everyone around her smile. She was loved and respected by her large extended family of many nephews and nieces. She is survived and will be celebrated in life by her brothers Lorenzo Martinez of Auburndale, FL, Alejo Martinez of Fennville, MI, Jose Martinez of Chiefland, FL. and Guillermo Martinez of Kalamazoo, MI. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church, 5586 117th Ave., Fennville, MI 49408. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the church with Fr. Fabio Garzon officiating. Ignacia will be laid to rest in Taylor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Ignacia's name to San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church.
