Obituary

Harold Brooks (Cass) Cassady, age 91 of Douglas, Michigan passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home. Born August 15, 1924 in Kempton, West Virginia to Marshall and Alcinda (Loughry) Cassady. Harold attended Davis High School in Davis, WV and at 17, quit to join the Navy. He served in WWII aboard the destroyer, USS Storms and was in the battle of Okinawa. After the war, he traveled to Grand Rapids, to work in the furniture industry and there is where he met the love of his life, Phyllis. He then worked at Parke-Davis Chemical Co. in Holland, for 33 years, retiring as the 2nd shift supervisor. Harold was a member of the Holland VFW and the Saugatuck American Legion, he loved to hunt, fish, even going to Wyoming to hunt antelope and Canada to hunt elk and bear. Harold and Phyllis loved to spend their winters in Arizona and their summers at Whiskey Creek in Scottville, Mi. and loved to go to the casinos. Surviving is his wife Phyllis, his children, Kathleen & Dean Johnson of Douglas and Michael Cassady of Allegan, sister Gladys Rains of Cleveland, Ohio and sisters-in-law, Mary Buehler of Newago, Madeline & Bill Cross of Muskegon, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him are his parents, brothers, Leonard, Gene, and sister Arveda. At his request cremation has taken place, and family services have been held.
