Greta Mae Prins , 74, of Saugatuck passed away Tuesday morning, January 20, 2015. Greta was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 14, 1940, to William and Dorothy Prins (Brainard). Greta moved to Saugatuck in the late 1980's where she was well embraced by the community. Greta was well know by all the local merchants and spent her retirement years working part time at Uncharted Courses. Greta is survived by her brother, William K. Prins, and his wife Barbara, of Rockford; her four children, James A. Battaglia of San Diego, Michael W. Battaglia and his wife Karen, of Hamilton, Cara (Carrie) M. Horsting and her husband, Rick, of Saugatuck, and Denise(Denny) L. Dedic, and her husband Jason, of Saugatuck. She has many grandchildren and extended grandchildren whom she loved and adored, including her children's adopted brother, Shi-Wei Battaglia of Hamilton. Greta is preceded in death by her significant other, Dennis L. Thrush "Big D". The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Greta's honor to Hospice of Holland at 270 Hoover Boulevard, Holland, Michigan, 49423. www.hospiceof holland.org.
