She was a beloved wife to her husband, James Walz, with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, spending time going to auctions and camping. Grace was one of six children, Grace is survived by her sister Norma Mendenhall, along with many nieces and nephews.

A woman of many talents and interests, Grace found solace and joy in playing the harmonica, sewing, and quilting. Her hands were rarely still, as she created beautiful quilts that not only warmed the body but also the soul. Grace's love for animals shone brightly through her adoration for her adopted cat, Miss Bessie, who provided companionship and comfort in her last months of life.

She was a friend to many students, offering a listening ear, wise counsel, and a ready smile that could light up the room.
