George R. Zecklin Jr., 82, of Fennville, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in Resthaven Care Center. Born in Niles, he had been employed by the Michigan Fruit Canners in Fennville for more than 40 years. He was a member of Bravo Christian Reformed Church, Fennville VFW Post 7911 and the American Legion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; and daughter Sandra DeBoer. Surviving are his companion Helen LeClear of Allegan, children Robert Zecklin of Colorado, Kenneth and Frances Zecklin of Ganges, John and Julie Zecklin of Grand Junction, Max and Christine Zecklin of Dorr, and Linda and Joe Christropher of Glenn; 14 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren: sisters, Madeline Seaman of Fennville, Imogene and Walter Pettau and Ruth Breault of Canada; and son in law Cal DeBoer of Holland. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Jabaay officiating . Burial will be in Pearl Cemetery. Visiting is from 3-5 and 6-8 pm Friday. Memorials may be made to Grand Rapids Veterans Home or Resthaven Care Center's Bethel Program.
