Obituary

Francis J. Violante, age 77, of Holland, Michigan passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. Born May 21, 1938 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Anthony and Isabel (Pittacora) Violante. He married Eileen M. Smith on May 6, 1967, and has spent the past 48 years by her side. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Frank worked as a sales and marketing representative in the food distribution industry for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Douglas, MI, and served as District Deputy and Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Above all, Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His top priorities were always his family and his faith. Frank is preceded in death by his wife Eileen on February 11, 2016 and his parents. Surviving are his children Renee and Tom Kelly, Mary Violante, Karen and Tim Steenwyk all of Holland, Anthony and Monica Violante of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren; one brother Dominic Violante of Edina, MN and one sister Mary Ellingsen of Fennville. Memorial donations may be made in Frank's name to the Knights of Columbus, Council 8687, P.O. Box 941, Douglas, MI 49406. Visitation will be held at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St. Fennville on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4-8 PM with rosary starting at 7:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 100 St Peters Dr., Douglas, MI on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. Frank will be laid to rest in Douglas Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Fr. Stanley Witek. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com
