Everett "Barney" Barnes, age 87 of Fennville, Michigan passed away at his home on Friday, October 21, 2016. Born July 18, 1929 in Bravo, he was the son of Loren and Mona (Kelsey) Barnes. Barney was a 1948 graduate of Fennville High School, lettering in three sports. He was a sports enthusiasts his entire life, and was inducted into the Fennville Public Schools, Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Barney worked for Michigan Fruit canners in Fennville from 1954 and retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Fennville United Methodist Church, and the Sons of AMVETS. Surviving is his wife of 51 years Karen Ann (Thompson) Barnes, son Loren and Victoria Barnes, grandson Connor Barnes, granddaughter Brooke Welch, all of Fennville. Barney was preceded in death by one son Kirk Alan Barnes, one brother and five sisters. Visitation will be Monday, October 24, 2016 from 5-8 pm at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville, and funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Fennville United Methodist Church 5849 124th Ave. Fennville. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Barkholz and Rev. Ronald Hanson. Burial will be in the Fennville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Fennville Public Schools Youth Athletics, Hospice of Holland, or the Fennville United Methodist Church.
