Elverta A. Maas, age 91 of Pullman, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her residence. Born March 18, 1925 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Maglin) Gessler. Elverta played a large role in the local community as a volunteer with many organizations. She was a member of the Casco United Methodist Church and VFW Women's Auxiliary. Elverta was a board member for the Wings of Hope for over 17 years. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, playing cards crafting, and making jewelry. She is preceded in death by her Husband Howard I. Maas on August 15, 1993, brother Fred Gessler, sister Rose Liszka, and her parents. Elverta is survived by her children, Susan and William Kucharz of Addison, IL, Howard I. Jr. and Rolanda Maas of Jacksonville, FL., Paul A. and Marie Maas of Fennville, MI, Bruce A. Maas of Pullman, MI, Nancy and Vance Sanders of Pullman, MI; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Elverta's name to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn Street Allegan, MI 49010. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 12:00-8:00 PM at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI 49408. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Casco United Methodist Church with Rev. David Meister officiating. Elverta will be laid to rest in Lee Township Cemetery.
