Elaine Cole Babbitt, 79 of Fennville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at her home. Born August 30, 1924 in Blackwell, Missouri she retired from Wilkinson Implement in Glenn, MI as a bookkeeper. She then was the Owner-Operator of the Gateway Grill restaurant in Fennville for 13 years. She was a member of the Ganges United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley, on August 29, 1998. She is survived by her children, Stanley and Susan Babbitt of Fennville, Brian and Carrie Babbitt of Allegan, Dr. Shirley Ann and Dr. Mark Warwick of Knoxville, TN, and Rebecca and Larry Froeber of Fennville; six grandchildren; five great-granchildren; sisters, Ruth McKee of Blackwell, MO., and Virginia Campbell of St. Louis, MO.; and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Sisson of Fennville. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chappell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Jeffreys and Marcia Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Fennville Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Holland.
