Edward R. Scherpinsky, age 76 of Fennville, Michigan, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Born March 3, 1938 in Newberry, Michigan, he was the son of Adolph and Helen (Schaffer) Scherpinsky. Ed was a retired truck driver and received many awards including, a Godfrey award, and the one million mile accident free award. A kind man Ed was a friend to many, and loved spending time with family and friends, he lived in the Ganges area for many years and was a member of the Ganges Baptist Church. Ed was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Leverne Scherpinsky in April of 2001. Surviving is his wife Ivah Jean Scherpinsky, children; Edward and Margaret Scherpinski Jr. of Mekinock, North Dakota, Robert VanDine of Fennville, Michigan, Denise Dineen of Springfield, Illinois, eight grandchildren, sisters; Florence Mickelson, Sue Seward, Helen Seebeck, Daisy Otting, and brother Dave Scherpinsky. Funeral services for Ed will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Thomas Case, and burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ganges Baptist Church 6577 122nd Ave. Fennville, MI 49408.
