Obituary

Earl Clark Mars, 87, of Pullman, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, in Allegan County Medical Care Facility. Born in Burwell, Neb., he had lived in the Fennville area since 1959, coming from Augusta. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II. He worked for the Michigan State Highway Department, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Ganges Baptist Church and of the V.F.W. Post 4l07. Surviving are his wife, Leona; children, Bernard and Karen Mars of West Olive, Timothy and Phyllis Mars of Holland, Shirley and Jerry Nykerk of Fennville, Linda and Gary Bare of Richland, Mo., Nancy and Bruce Benedetti of Pineville, La., and Tamara and Randy Sampson of Fennville; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Randy Sampson of Chehalis, Wash.; a sister, Betty nd Paul Fish of Oakville, Wash.; nieces and nephews. Services are l p.m. today at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St. with Pastor Thomas Case officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
