Dorothy Hanson, 93 Dorothy Hanson died Saturday, December 4, 2010. She was born April 5, 1917 in Seattle, Washington to James and Dorothy Audett, who moved to Chicago in the 1920s. As a child, she spent much time at the farm of her grandparents, Albert and Grace Guilfoil, on the river road between Douglas and Fennville, and also attended school in both towns. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago in 1938 and married Eugene J. Hanson August 3, 1940 at St. Peter's Church in Douglas. They had three children. Dorothy worked for many years as a schoolteacher in Catholic schools in the suburbs of Chicago. After she retired with her husband to her grandfather's farm in 1980, she was involved in many activities in Saugatuck and Douglas, serving as Treasurer and President of the Saugatuck Douglas Art Club. She is survived by her three children Dee Dee, Eugene Jr., and Jim; her grandchildren, Lisa Beinhoff and Nick (Jean) Beinhoff; her great-grandchild Paul Beinhoff; her nephew, Steve Audett; and her cousins Richard (Cookie) Guilfoil, Joyce (Ed) Korthaze and others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts in support of the upcoming Art Club exhibit. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 14 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, 13th and Maple, Holland.
