Doris Nan Owens, age 81, of Crown Point, Indiana, formerly of Pullman, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Saint Anthony Hospice in Crown Point, Indiana. Born November 6, 1929, in Pullman, Michigan, she was the youngest of nine children of Augustus and Vera (Sternaman) Galbreath. Doris was a 1948 graduate of Fennville High School, and worked with her mother at the Pearl creamery during the war. She also worked as a clerk, for Cupid Candies, Marshall Fields, and then for K-mart till her retirement. She enjoyed many crafts, collecting salt and pepper shakers, her flowers, and her hummingbirds. Doris married Robert W. Owens on August 18, 1951 in Pullman, MI, and he preceded her in death May 11, 1975. She is survived by her sons William and Jean Owens of Momence, Illinois and David Owens of Crown Point, Illinois, grandchildren; Dawn and Zack Cleveland, Jill and Reaco Williams, William Jr and Lesley Owens , seven great-grandchildren, and her brother Donald and Molly Galbreath. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St. Fennville, MI, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. till time of service.
