Donald E. Kark, 82, of South Haven, passed away on February 25, 2016 at Ely Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Allegan. Don was born on July 2, 1933 in Casco Twp. to Elmer and Mary Kark. He was the oldest of five siblings. Don was a hard worker his whole life. He joined the Air Force after high school, serving in California, Germany and France. He then worked at Whirlpool for 23 years, and after retirement he worked as a custodian for South Haven Public Schools for 5 years Don showed an early talent in music. He studied under Michael Listak in high school and mastered the baritone and trumpet. His fondest memories were playing with his dance band throughout high school, The Midnight Five. As an adult, Don was active in the Casco Band for many years. Don is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rex. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diana, of South Haven; three children - Donald (Becky) Kark, Renee (Rich) Wilkinson, and Maxine (Ron) Ridley, all of South Haven; four grandchildren - Brian (Rachel) Ridley, Robin (Mark) Lash, Travis Wilkinson, and Tara Wilkinson; five great-grandchildren; three siblings - Elizabeth (Pat) Bigoness, Zane (Bessie) Kark, and Benny (Marcia) Kark; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews; and many friends and neighbors. Visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 9 at Casco United Methodist Church, corner of 109th Avenue and 66th Street, Casco Township. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be served afterwards. The family suggests donations be made to the Casco United Methodist Church.
