Donald Buckberry was a kind and loving man. He was born October 9, 1923, in Romulus, Michigan, to Fred and Leona (Van Patten) Buckberry, and passed away on Friday, October 3, at The Inn at Freedom Village in Holland. He married the love of his life, Marguerite "Sis" Clark, in 1945 and moved to Ganges Township in Fennville in 1947, where he and Sis built a home together and lived for the rest of their lives. Don was employed for several years building B24 airplanes at Willow Run in Ann Arbor and then was a tool and dye maker at Rockwell in Allegan for 30 years before retiring. Together Don and Sis owned and operated the Buckberry Grocery in Ganges for several years, then they owned and operated the Early Bird Fish Charter in South Haven for 12 years with Sis being Don's first mate, and they also wintered in Florida for many years. Don enjoyed worship and fellowship with the family of God at Ganges Baptist Church. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite, on May 20, 2013, after 68 years of marriage; by his parents; his brothers, Hugh and Edward Buckberry; sister, Verna Stubblefield; brothers- in-law Stanley, John and Freeman Clark; and niece Gayle (Stubblefield) Gipson of Wayne, MI. He is survived by nieces and nephews: Hester (Buckberry) Mostroller of Romulus, MI; Kay (Buckberry) Stone of Taylor, MI; Rick Buckberry of New Boston, MI; Debbie (Buckberry) Gilman of Ohio; Jan (Buckberry) St.Cyr of Belleville, MI; Sue (Stubblefield) Marianacci of Wayne, MI; June and Tom Goossen of Holland, MI; Lois and Mick Nienhuis of West Olive, MI; and many wonderful neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Ganges Baptist Church with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Rev. Thomas Case officiating. Internment Taylor Cemetery.
