Derek Kent Doran, 30, of Fennville, MI tragically passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. Born June 25, 1990 in Quincy, IL and raised in Canton, MO, he was the son of Michael and Laura (Thompson) Doran. Derek was the husband of Mario Vega with whom he shared nearly four happy years together. He loved to spend time at the beach swimming, soaking up the sun and watching the beautiful sunsets with Mario. Derek loved the holidays. He was very meticulous about finding the perfect gifts for the ones he loved and always made sure that each package was beautifully and perfectly wrapped. Derek also took great pride in decorating for Christmas and ensuring their tree was over-the-top fabulous! He had a huge heart and a smile that would light up even the darkest room. Above all else, Derek loved his family and friends and always enjoyed making new friends wherever he went. In addition to his parents, Michael and Laura, and his husband, Mario, he is survived by his siblings, Devin Doran and Danniel Galbraith; and many extended family members and friends. Derek was preceded in death by his brother, Dylan Doran. The family will receive friends at Chappell Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2020 beginning at 2:00 PM with a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
