Obituary

David Scott Nyland

October 27, 1966 - June 20, 2026

David faced many battles throughout his lifetime but faced them with courage, determination and a positive attitude. He had an innate ability to connect with other people and was a compassionate listener. David passed away on June 20, 2026, at the McLaren Greater Lansing Main Hospital in Lansing MI. He is survived by his daughter, Megan Nyland, two sons, Matthew Nyland and Nicholas Nyland, and Grandson Elijah Nyland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Baad.

David was born October 27, 1966, in Holland MI. He was a graduate of West Ottawa High School. As a child, he was curious about everything. His curiosity led him to wanting to know how things worked and how to fix them when they didn’t.

David was ambitious, learned quickly, and always looked for ways to make improvements. He started his own business laying tile and carpet. He had a reputation as a respected professional.

He loved music; he learned to play the guitar and became quite skilled at it. He was always searching for good deals on guitars he could buy and resell. He could fix just about anything. He enjoyed buying and reselling guitars, mini-bikes, boats and many other things that came his way.

David will be missed by many people. Not only his family members, his many friends that he grew up with, but all the people that he helped throughout his lifetime.

A Celebration of life will be held July 25th from 3:00 pm to 8:pm at THE GRAND CELEBRATION CENTER, located at 925 Four Mile N.W., Grand Rapids.
