David Alan Gaines, age 61, of Fennville, MI, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Spectrum Butterworth. Born May 5, 1956 in Holland, MI, he was the son of the late David Alonzo Gaines and Martha Sue (Cruthers) Gaines. In December of 1975, Mr. Gaines married Barbara Gale Whittset, and together they raised two sons and enjoyed many happy years of marriage. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish and work on vehicles. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden, and the fruits of his labor were often used in his cooking and canning. In addition to his wife of nearly 42 years, Mr. Gaines is survived by his sons, Michael Gaines and Eric (Yahaira) Gaines; and his grandchildren, Samantha Gaines, Michael Gaines, Dustin McNealy, Christian Gaines, and Angelina Gaines. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Gaines. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville, MI.
