Dale Karen Holmes, 78, of Holland, MI passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at her home. Born December 18, 1941 in Ionia, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Holmes and Eileen Gentry. Dale had worked in a variety of industries throughout her life including construction, waitressing and school bus driving. She was a do-it-yourself type of person that always seemed to be mastering a new craft. Sewing and knitting were amongst her favorites. Dale enjoyed spending time putting together puzzles and she loved to spoil the cats that always seemed to find their way to her home. Dale is survived by her children, Christopher D. (Tess) Morey, Sr., Karen M. (Mitch) Grissen, Kimberly S. (Daniel) Davies and Kelly J. Marshall (Frank Hercinger); brother, William (Mary) Holmes; grandchildren, Michael Cogdell, Ernest Cogdell, Angela Morey, Christopher J. Morey, Jr., Brooke Grissen, Christine Dieterman, Tara Gigowski, Tamara Gigowski, Casey Letts, Ryan Bergsma, Meghan Rhompke, Clayton Davies, Zackery Marshall and Ellison Marshall; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Morey; her sister, Retha Holmes; and her brother, Norman Holmes. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
