Clair Edmund Griffin, age 85 of Fennville was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,on Thursday, July 9, 2009, with his loving family by his side. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Clair was born on October 31, 1923 in Vestaburg, Michigan, he was the son of Frank and Fern (Bell) Griffin. Clair proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WW II. He retired from General Motors in 1986, and was a member of the Ganges Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Marjorie (Guptill) Griffin of Fennville, children; Michael and Nancy Griffin of Holland, Edmund and Jennie Griffin of Holland, Barbara and Richard Schaefer of Jenison, Betty and Scott Rice of Holland, Diane Marsman of Gobles, Karen Griffin of Holland, thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, brothers; Dale and Juanita Griffin of Bath, Donald Griffin of Riverdale, and sister Joyce and Richard Darmondy of Alma, MI, also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elsie (Roth) Griffin, three infant children, brother Paul Griffin and sister Bonnie Holiday. Visiting will be Sunday, July 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville. Officiating will be Rev Thomas Case, and burial will be in Fennville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ganges Baptist Church or Hospice of Holland.
