Charles I. Heavilin Sr., age 91, of Douglas, Michigan passed away Sunday May 24, 2015 at his residence. Born January 6, 1924 in Marion, Indiana, he was the son of John and Augusta (Cross) Heavilin. Chuck was a WW II Army Air Corp veteran. He was a longtime Postmaster of Fennville retiring in 1986, and a member of St. Peters' Catholic Church in Douglas. Also he was a retired member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. Chuck was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Dorothy in 1992, brother Jack Heavilin and son-in-law Glenn Rummler. Surviving is his wife Donna Heavilin; his children; John and Lana Heavilin of Benthiem, MI, Daniel and Charlene Heavilin of Fennville, MI, Charles Heavilin Jr. of Gobles, MI, Celeste and Robert Gerde of Bloomington, MN, Patricia Rummler of Holland, MI, Anna Marie and Brian Males of Fennville, MI; step-children Donita Beery of Otsego, MI, William and Nancy Beery of Douglas, MI, Donald and Patti Beery of Saugatuck, MI; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday May 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI. Mass will be Friday May 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Douglas, MI with Father Fabio Garzon officiating.
