Obituary

Mrs. Stick was born in Chicago on September 24, 1926, the daughter of Joseph W. Hynes and Cecil L. Hynes (nee Mills) and the granddaughter of entrepreneur Cecil Z. Mills, inventor of the slot machine and the automatic railroad crossing gates. She was married for 65 years to sporting goods representative Rex A. Stick, who predeceased her last year. She was a graduate of Oak Park-River Forest High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mrs. Stick worked as a child actress for Chicago radio stations and later was a professional model on the Lee Phillips TV show in Chicago. Her charity and civic involvement included Tri-Delta Sorority as a Golden Circle and Life Loyal member, Infant Welfare League, and treasurer for the Chicago Minor Hawks Hockey Association. She lived for 53 years in the Chicago suburbs before moving to Holland, Michigan in 2002. Mrs. Stick is survived by her daughter Susan Stick, a retired teacher living in Douglas, Michigan, son Charles Stick, a landscape architect living in Charlottesville, Virginia and grandson Andrew Cronin, a construction manager and estimator in Holland, Michigan. Another son Rex (Ricky) Stick, Jr. passed away in 2015. A funeral will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland, MI 49423 on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jennifer Adams officiating. A Visitation will be held on Monday January 11, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI 49408. Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Stick's name to the Friends of SDDL (Saugatuck/Douglas Library) PO Box 789, Douglas, MI 49406. An online registry book is available at chappellfuneralhome.com
