Catherine D. (Burklow) Wilt, age 73 of Douglas, Michigan passed away on January 19, 2017 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Born in Harrisburg, Arkansas on February 18, 1943, she was the daughter of Charlie and Nolar (Nash) Burklow. Catherine relocated to Douglas, Michigan with her late husband, Clark Wilt to cultivate her dream into the restaurant that many grew to know and love; the Kalico Kitchen Restaurant. Catherine resided in Douglas for the following 40 years, raising her family, building a business, and becoming a concrete part of her community. Throughout her life, she strived to be a positive stepping stone for those around her and to provide as much as possible for those that found themselves in need. Her love of travel brought her through nearly all 50 states and later landed her in Arizona, where she enjoyed the beauty of meeting many new friends and caring for her beloved dogs (Izzy and Maggie) until her passing. Catherine was preceded in death by mother and father, and husband, along with twin brothers, Coy and Troy Burklow, and brother Lehmon Burklow. She is survived by her son Donald Shriel, brother Jerry Wilson, nieces Cindy Kidder & Linda Wilson, nephews Scott Burklow, Rick Burklow, Dale Burklow, Donny Burklow, Preston Burklow, & Charles Burklow, grandchildren Alexandria Shriel, Diane DeJonge, Cody Shriel, & Benjamin Shriel, along with cousins and friends that are scattered throughout the country. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9-11 AM at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI 49408 with a memorial service starting at 11:00 AM. Pastor Arlee Horn will officiate. Catherine will be laid to rest in Taylor Cemetery immediately following the service and all are welcome to the pot luck luncheon after at HopN Pizza, 106 E Main St., Fennville MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Catherine's name to any of the local animal shelters in the area. Catherine was truly unique...completely one-of-a-kind; all who knew her could certainly agree that she was a fiery, strong-willed, stubborn-headed, silver-tongued, God-fearing and God-loving woman, who never failed to be driven by anything less than wholehearted compassion and love.
