Bryan E. Gilbert, age 44, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Holland, MI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 14, 2013. Born October 31, 1968 in Holland, Michigan, he was the son of Paul and Carol Gilbert VanderVelden. Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Paul and one brother Robert Gilbert. Surviving is his wife Chong Combs Gilbert of Phoenix, AZ, Mother Carol and William VanderVelden of Holland, brothers; John Gilbert of Rockford, MI, Greg and Jill Gilbert of Ypsilanti, MI, Ken and Kristi Gilbert of Clarendon Hills, IL, sister Lisa and Tom Riech of Jenison, MI, step brothers David VanderVelden of Douglas, MI and Matt VanderVelden of Roseville, MI. At his request cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Peter's Catholic Church Douglas, Michigan, with Fr. Favio Garzon officiating.
