IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce Allen
Maas
June 16, 1955 – June 23, 2025
Bruce Allen Maas, age 70, passed away peacefully with his 2 children by his side on June 23rd, 2025. Bruce was born June 16, 1955, in Chicago, IL, to Howard Sr and Elverta (Gessler) Maas. In Bruce's adolescent years, his family moved to a cottage near the Lake in Pullman, MI. This is where their roots began. This is also where his younger years became interesting. Bruce met his long-time best friend Mike Riston. They shared a "Pretty Fun Life" together, sharing an amazing friendship for 50 +years.
After graduating from Bloomingdale High School in 1974, Bruce would serve Honorably in the United States Marine Corp as a Motor Vehicle Operator from 1975-1979. After Bruce came home from the Marines, he began working at General Electric. When they closed their doors he went to the Fruit Canners in Fennville. When he left there he went to Donnelly- Magna International until he retired. Bruce had an amazing work ethic, always providing for his family.
In July of 1987, He became a father of a baby girl. Nikitta Gene Maas. Then in September of 1989, he welcomed the birth of his son, Steven Michael Maas. His heart was full and he had the world. In September of 2016 he gained his favorite daughter-in-law when his son married Stephanie Margaret Grigg. They expanded dad's title to Opa when Jazmine Mae Maas made her debut on Christmas day of 2018. In April of 2019 he proudly walked his daughter down the aisle and gained his favorite son-in-law, Cory A. Nies. In September 2021 Steven and Stephanie blessed him with a grandson, Izaiah Allen Maas. Proud is an understatement. The family name "Maas" continues for another generation.
Bruce was known for his playful sense of humor. If you knew him, he was always cracking a joke, or making a wise remark. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, tinkering in the garage, listening to his favorite music, watching westerns, and most importantly his family. Bruce and his children enjoyed going to Alice Cooper concerts, and traveling the states.
He loved his family and grandkids more than anything. Being together as a family gave him the drive to live and be a part of family memories. He was a generous, humble and loving man. Bruce leaves behind a lasting memory of loyalty and love to those who knew him well.
He is survived by his children Nikitta (Cory) Nies, and Steven (Stephanie) Maas; siblings Paul (Marie) Maas, Nancy Maas, and Mike (Annette) Riston; grandchildren Jazmine Maas and Izaiah Maas; Nephew Tim (Molly) Maas-Treat and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and long time friends.
