Obituary

Betty Jean Kostyla, 77 of Douglas, Michigan. Born in Chicago, Illinois went to be with her Lord on Mothers Day, May 13, 2012. Betty and her husband Joseph lived in the Chicago area where they were in Real Estate, Land Developers, Successful Builders and also built and operated Betty's Drive in for many years. They moved to the Douglas area in 1964 and built and operated the Amity Motel, Restaurant, Gift Shop and Bar in Douglas- which was the most modern motel to come to the area. Betty enjoyed traveling with friends and family, Paradise Island-Atlantis was always her favorite. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church Douglas, the V.F.W. and the Elks Club of Holland. Surviving is her son Joseph (Joey) Kostyla of Saugatuck, two daughters Karen Kostyla and Laura Jean Durham both of Saugatuck, one granddaughter Melanie Jean Durham of Sydney, Australia. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kostyla, and one son David Alex Kostyla. A time to meet with the family will be Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home 637 W. Main St. Fennville. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church Douglas, Michigan, officiating will be Fr. Tim Cuny O.S.A. and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Saugatuck, MI. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com
