Bertha Cavazos, age 81, of Fennville, MI passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Holland Hospital in Holland, MI. Born February 25, 1935 in Weslaco, Texas, she was the daughter of Polonio and Josephina (Rodriguez) Hernandez. Bertha worked as a farm laborer and also for Fennville Public Schools Head Start Program for many years. She was a member San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church in Pearl, MI and was a volunteer for Christian Neighbors for over 20 years. Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Refugio Cavazos of Fennville; son Apolonio and Melinda Cavazos of Fennville, son Refugio Cavazos Jr. of Fennville; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; brother, Guadulpe Hernandez of St. John, IN, and sister, Eluteria and Antonio Reuara of Chicago Heights, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main St., Fennville, MI 49408. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2016 at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church, 5586 117th Ave., Fennville, MI 49408 with Fr. Fabio Garzon officiating.
