Barbara Jean
Birkholz
Aug 20, 1936 — Jul 13, 2026
Barbara (Thompson) Birkholz, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 13,2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Throughout her life, Barbara was fortunate to find love twice. She shared many happy years with her first husband, Robert Thompson, until his passing. In time, she found love again and married Leo Birkholz, with whom she built another cherished chapter of her life. Both husbands preceded her in death.
She was a devoted mother to Kathy (Scott) Kelch, Jeff (Sara) Thompson, Christie (Allen) Martin, and her son-in-law, Richard Cornelissen, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Thompson. She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Randy Thompson and Alice Cornelissen, as well as her great grandson, Chandler Thompson. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Barbara found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, spending time outdoors, and tending to her beautiful flowers. Her warm smile, generous heart, and gentle spirit made everyone feel welcome.
She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Christopher (Lily), Curt (Courtney), Lance, Ryan, Joe (Brianna), Jordan (Lucy), Sierra (Jose), Henry (Kate), Joy (Tyler), Jaron (Nikki), and Warren (Brianna), along with 19 great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her love and legacy forward. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Barbara will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she showed throughout her life, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing her love will remain with them always and that she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, a private graveside service will be held.
