August "Gus" Knikelbine, age 88 passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his home in Fennville with his loving family by his side. Gus was born in Fennville, Michigan to the late Louis and Flossie Knikelbine. Gus was retired from Holland Hitch and he farmed all of his life, retiring at the end of the harvest season in 2017. He was a member of the Michigan Flywheelers and had restored two Ford tractors which he was very proud of. He would drive those tractors in the Flywheelers tractor parades. Papa Gus enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all brought so much joy to his life. On September 28, 1957 Gus would marry the love of his life, Patricia Jean Serie. The two would spend 61 loving years together. Gus is survived by his wife, Pat Knikelbine; his children, John Knikelbine and Deb Knikelbine; sister, Betty Boeskool; grandchildren, Aaron (Emily) Wilkinson, Kristina (Jeff) Evanauski, Regan (Jason) Vicari, Jimilee Reed and Amanda (Nathan) Leslie and 9 great-grandchildren. Gus is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Flanner; brother, Dan Knikelbine; grandson, Joshua Knikelbine and daughter-in-law, Terrie Knikelbine. A celebration of life for Gus and Pat will be held at the Community Church of Douglas from 1:00 pm until 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2019, which would have been their 62nd wedding anniversary.
