Anna I. Kurbis, 97, of Fennville, MI, formerly of St. Joseph, MI passed away at her daughter's home in Fennville the evening of April 26, 2017. Anna was born September 9, 1919 in Benton Harbor, MI. She was one of four children born to Emil and Ida Stephan. On June 15, 1940 she married Rudolph Kurbis. Anna and Rudolph made their married home in St. Joseph where they had a daughter, Jane, and a son, John. They enjoyed 43 loving years together until his death in 1983. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, her brother, Eric Stephan; her sisters, Martha Kramer and Erna Lerke. Anna had been a long time member of Blue Roof Church in St. Joseph and loved the Lord with all her heart. Anna was a homemaker and lived in the St. Joseph area most of her life, moving to Fennville in 2014 Surviving are her children; Jane Ann Dowling and partner Tom Ensing of Fennville, John A. Kurbis of Elmira, MI, grandsons: Ryan (Crystl) Peterson of Saugatuck, MI, Kevin (Heather) Peterson of Whitehall, MI, Kurt Peterson of Muskegon, MI, great-grandchildren: Anders and Soren Peterson of Saugatuck, MI, Tyler, Faith and Clarissa Peterson of Whitehall, MI. She also leaves behind her special nephew Kent (Dale) Kramer of Palm Coast, FL as well as many more special nieces and nephews. A private burial service with family members will be held at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph and a Celebration of Anna's life will be held at her daughter's home in June.
