Alvina Steinke, age 95 of Fennville,MI, formerly of Kalamazoo, MI, went to be with the Lord peacefully, from her home on Sunday, August 24, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born July 6, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and married Herman Steinke January 30, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1999. She retired from Peter Echrich & Son, and was a licensed beautician. She enjoyed her family, friends, baking, knitting, crocheting, going to Canada to visit family and spending winters in Las Vegas. Surviving are her children; Gerald Steinke, of Otsego, MI, and Lily Ann and John Richard Lancaster of Fennville, MI, grandchildren; Richard and Kandy Steinke, Wendy Baden, William Steinke, Jason and Amanda Lancaster, Matthew and Brooke Lancaster, and David Lancaster. She had three wonderful great-grandchildren Richard Steinke, Magnus Lancaster, and Leif Lancaster. Also surviving are her siblings; Martha Suppes, Dorothy Stone, Tillie and Ernie Schindel, Millie Gonske, Louise Hartig. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins who are very special to her. Preceeding her in death are her husband Herman Steinke, daughter-in-law Joyce Steinke, her grandson Tim Baden, parents, Ferdinand and Florertine Hartig and Otillia Hirshfeld, her siblings Sam and Esther Meyers, Ray Hartig, Adolf Hartig, Bill and Lydia Hartig, Julia and Albert Edel, Fred Suppes and Lillian and Ed Teske, Edward Hartig, Charles Hartig, Alex Myer, and Henry Hentz. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. at the Chappell Funeral Home Fennville, MI. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park 3941 South Westnedge Kalamazoo, MI, with Pastor Gary Peterson officiating. The family asks that you join them for fellowship and refreshments at 1:00 p.m. at the Fennville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or the Fennville United Methodist Church. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Plainwell Pines Nursing and Rehab, Pipp LTEC unit, Allegan General Hospital and to Dr. Mark Warner for their wonderful care and support.
