Alois "AL" Masters, 88 of Saugatuck, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Golden Acres Christian Living in Fennville. Born June 16, 1919 in Chicago, IL the son of Joseph Mastalerz and Louise (Krurzkowski) Mastalerz. He served in the US Army during WWII. A full time resident of the Saugatuck area for the past 25 years, he was a retired photographer,and a member of the local writers group. He and his wife also were the owners and operators of the Holiday Hill Resort in Saugatuck for over 50 years. Surviving are his children, Christa and Harold Wise, and Cary and Cheryl Masters all of Saugatuck, grandchildren, Robert, Katie, Nick, and Alyssa, sister-in-law Evelyn Mastalerz. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, on Feb. 27, 1998, also by two brothers Hubert and Joseph. At his request cremation has taken place, and private family services have been held.
