Alfred J. VanTil, 80 of Fennville, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at Holland Community Hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Albert and Bessie (Smith) VanTil he married Marion Margot June 3, 1950 in Ganges, MI. Alfred was a US Navy veteran and a farmer, he owned and operated VanTil's Greenhouse in Fennville for 34 years. He attended the Ganges United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion. Surviving is his wife Marion, children Carol Cannady of Douglas, Connie and Rosendo Martinez, and James and Tami VanTil of Ganges. Seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother William VanTil of Spring Lake, MI, and a sister Marge Eckert of Arizona. He was preceded in death by brother Walter VanTil and a sister Ann Alkema. At his request cremation has taken place. An open house will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the home of Jim and Tami VanTil.
