Alfred L. Pshea, 93, of Fennville, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at The Inn at Freedom Village in Holland. Alfred was born on November 22, 1919 in Douglas, the son of George W. and Eva (Prentice) Pshea. Alfred was a fruit farmer before joining the Entomology Department at Michigan State University, retiring as a Research Assistant and the Manager of the Trevor Nichols Experiment Station in Fennville. He was a member of the Michigan Fruit Growers Association, a member of the Future Farmers of America Advisory Board, a 4-H Leader, and an Assistant Scout Master of the Saugatuck Sea Scouts. During his life he enjoyed trapping, hunting, bee keeping, bowling, gardening, and wood working. He served as a Ship Fitter First Class in the Submarine Service during WWII. Alfred is loved and survived by his children and spouses; William (Pam) Pshea of Oakland, CA, Yvonne Richter of Geneva, IL, Lorelei ( Terry) Stehle of Hamilton, Judy (John) Horn of Fennville, his grandchildren; Shannon (Andy) Bowman, Wendy (Kevin) Calcagno, his great grandchildren; Olivia, Maya, Grant and Morgan. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Ruth Pshea. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite organization working towards a cure for Breast Cancer.
