It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alejo Martinez, 90 of Fennville, Michigan. He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 17th, 2026 surrounded by family. Born July 20, 1936 in Matehuala, Mexico. Alejo was one of nine children born to the late Roman Martinez and Alejandra (Garcia) Martinez.

Alejo was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the strength and foundation of his family. He enjoyed walking on his ranch and loved being outdoors and taking photographs of nature. Alejo also enjoyed fishing, hunting and music. Most of all he enjoyed our large family gatherings.

Alejo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Calletana Martinez, who passed away in 2023. He is survived by his six children, Alejo Jr. (Marcelina) Martinez, Donna Martinez, Roman Martinez II, Juan Jose Martinez, Maria Martinez, and Marisela (Chris) Wabeke; sibling, Jose Martinez; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Alejo was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Alejandra; brothers, Jesus Martinez, Lorenzo Martinez, Guillermo Martinez; and sisters, Santiaga (Martinez) Almanza, Maria De La Paz (Martinez) Hernandez, Maria De Los Angeles (Martinez) Rodriguez and Ignacia Martinez.

Family and friends will gather at St Peter's Catholic Church, 100 Street Peters Drive Douglas, MI 49406 on Monday, August 24th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for a visitation. Mass will start at 11:00 am and a luncheon will be held at St Peter's Hall following the service.
