Obituary

James Joseph Zurawski, 84, of Pullman, MI passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Born October 21, 1935 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late August and Catherine (Murphy) Zurawski and was preceded in death by brother August (Casmira) and sister Marion (Robert) O’Donovan.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes (Turk) Zurawski, son August (Kathleen), daughters Mary, Elizabeth (Martin) Doherty, grandchildren Michael and Zachary Zurawski, Kevin, Margaret, Mary Kate, and Anne Doherty, and many nieces and nephews.

James was a veteran of the United States Army and had served honorably during the Korean War era. He was also a retired captain of the Chicago Police Department. In his spare time, James loved spending time outdoors and especially liked traveling to the Upper Peninsula. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching Notre Dame Football, woodworking and watching his family have fun on the lake in front of the house. His family and their time together were very precious to him and his presence in their lives will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James’ name to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Services will be private.
