Kody Hesselink Obituary

Kody James Hesselink

October 24, 1992 – April 22, 2024

Kody James Hesselink, aged 31, passed away suddenly, on April 22, 2024, in Fennville, MI. Born on October 24, 1992, in Grand Rapids, MI., to Kenneth Hesselink and Kathy Drier, Kody grew up in a world that was rapidly changing, and he embraced it with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure.

Kody's passion for technology was evident from a young age. He turned this passion into a career, dedicating himself to helping others as a valued member of an IT help desk team. His colleagues remember him as a problem-solver who could always be counted on to find a solution with a smile. His work was not just a job; it was a way he connected with the world and made it a better place, one technical issue at a time.

Beyond his professional life, Kody was a man of many interests. He was an avid computer gamer, finding joy and camaraderie in the virtual worlds he explored with friends from around the globe. His love for computers extended beyond gaming; he was always excited about the latest technology and could spend hours discussing and tinkering with new gadgets.

Kody's love for the outdoors was as strong as his love for technology. He cherished his time camping and had a special fondness for going up North to the family farm, where he could immerse himself in the tranquility of nature and herding his family to MaMa Mia’s Pizza. These moments away from the buzz of electronics allowed him to recharge and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Kody’s love for jeeps and the Jeeper community was something he was passionate about. He enjoyed gathering and riding with friends and family.

His pets were a constant source of happiness and companionship for Kody. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he cared for them with the utmost love and attention. They, in turn, provided him with unconditional love and comfort throughout his life.

Kody's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved wife, Susan Hesselink, his devoted parents, Kenneth (Diane) Hesselink, Kathy Drier (Jeffrey Campbell), and all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted, generous individual who brought light and laughter into the lives of everyone he touched.

Though his time with us was far too short, Kody's impact was profound. He lived his life with a sense of purpose and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unquenchable curiosity about the world. Kody James Hesselink will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be a beacon of joy for his family and friends.

Cremation has taken place and Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with their wishes.

In lieu of a funeral his family is planning a camping and cookout in Pellston, MI on Saturday, June 22, 2024, during which some of Kody's ashes will be planted with a tree on the family farm and the rest will be buried next to his grandparents in Bliss, MI.
