Rodolfo Alfaro “Uncle Rudy”

May 23, 1957 – April 5, 2024

Rodolfo Alfaro, affectionately known as "Rudy" and cherished by many as "Uncle Rudy," or “Rude Dog” passed away on April 5, 2024, in Holland, MI. Born on May 23, 1957, in Douglas, MI, he was a man whose warm presence and generous spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. Rudy's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures and the importance of family and friendship.

Rudy was a devoted son to his late parents, Jose and Eloisa (Rodriquez) Alfaro, and grew up with a close-knit family that would become the cornerstone of his life. He embraced the role of a loving father to his children, Rudy G. Alfaro, Kevin (Jill) Alfaro, and Tracy Alfaro, and delighted in the laughter and milestones of his grandchildren, Seraiah, Josiah, Jenavecia, Armani, Ryder, who were the light of his life. Rudy’s Siblings: Carlos (Lucy), Jose (Consuelo), Mary Lou (Chewy), Paul (Yolanda), Peter (Lucy), Rita (Benito), Crestina (Tony), Margaret (Donato), Olga (Rick), with whom he shared a bond of friendship and mutual respect.

Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Jose and Eloisa (Rodriguez) Alfaro, and siblings, Connie, John and Jesse.

Professionally, Rudy was known for his skill and dedication as a carpenter. His handiwork and craftsmanship were not merely a means to earn a living but were also his way of contributing to the community and helping those around him. His involvement with various associations reflected his commitment to his trade and his willingness to lend his expertise wherever it was needed.

Beyond his work, Rudy's passions painted the picture of a man who loved life and lived it fully. A huge Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, he never missed a game and was always ready to share his enthusiasm with fellow fans. Rudy's love for golf, Keno, and Cornhole were more than hobbies—they were activities that brought him closer to his friends, especially when enjoyed over a Budweiser at his favorite spot, Branns Steak House.

Uncle Rudy's backyard cookouts were legendary, a place where friends and family gathered to enjoy his delicious food and the warmth of his company. His knack for cooking was matched only by his eagerness to help with all kinds of projects, earning him the reputation of being not just handy but also incredibly generous with his time and talents.

Rudy's love for basketball was well-known, and his competitive spirit shone brightly as he won the Shoot the Bull contest three years in a row. This achievement was a source of pride and joy, both for Rudy and for all who cheered him on.

Those who knew Rudy would describe him as generous, friendly, and handy, words that encapsulate the essence of a man who was always ready to give more than he received. His ability to connect with people was unparalleled, and he took great pleasure in being "Uncle Rudy" to everyone, whether they were related by blood or bonded by affection.

To say that Rudy will be missed is an understatement. His passing leaves a void in the fabric of his community and family, yet his legacy of kindness, camaraderie, and the joy of shared experiences will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know him. Uncle Rudy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit of generosity, and his memory will be cherished forever.
