Anna Mae Sikora Obituary

Anna Mae Sikora, aged 95, a beacon of love and generosity in her community, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, in Fennville, Michigan. Born on February 6, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, Anna Mae was the cherished daughter of Dale and Ann (Smith) Ochampaugh. Her life was a testament to the joy found in simplicity, hard work, and family.

Anna Mae’s journey began alongside her siblings, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Sikora Sr.; her beloved son, Mark Sikora; her caring brother, Ronald (Barbara) Ochampaugh; and her loving sister, Florence (Luther) Rice. Her legacy continues through her son, Lou (Denise) Sikora, and her adored grandchildren, Sherrie Sin, and Rob (Annemarie) Sikora, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Oliver Sin, Carson, Austin, and Kian Sikora, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and creativity. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she also treasured.

Anna Mae’s professional life was marked by her dedication and personable nature, which shone brightly during her years as a telephone operator in Allegan and South Haven. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to run the Ganges Country Store for 16 years, where she became a well-known figure in the community.

A woman of many passions, Anna Mae found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her garden was a canvas of vibrant colors, with Gladiolas, her favorite flowers, standing tall and proud, reflecting her love for beauty and growth. Her creativity was not confined to her garden; it was evident in every aspect of her life and touched all who knew her.

Anna Mae’s heart was always with her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it was a quiet afternoon in the garden or a lively family gathering, Anna Mae’s presence was a source of comfort and happiness. She taught by example, showing that the most valuable gifts are not material but are found in the love and time we share with others. Those who knew Anna would describe her as loving, generous, and creative—a woman who gave of herself without expecting anything in return. Her smile, her laughter, and her gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will forever be a source of joy and inspiration for her family and friends.

Anna Mae Sikora’s life was a journey filled with love, laughter, and the quiet satisfaction of a life well-lived. As we bid her farewell, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and generosity will continue to flourish in the hearts of those she touched. Anna Mae’s spirit, like the Gladiolas in her garden, will remain a beautiful reminder of her passionate embrace of life.
